Welcome back to the iGen Creative blog!

This week has been really busy for us at iGen Creative! We have launched new ventures, expanded the team and are excited to see what the rest of 2021 will bring for us and for our clients.

With new roles, new positions, and new opportunities on the horizon for our purpose-fuelled team, it’s got us thinking…

We want to help you reach your own personal goals and discover your passion for a bigger, brighter, and more successful future!

If you are an entrepreneur or businessperson in search of a more fulfilling path, then keep on reading. Whether you are currently redefining your brand or going through an industry shift then this post may offer some inspiration to you.

Today, we are going to share some of the best ways in which you can re-discover what brings you the most fulfilment in order to help shape your future in the way that you’ve always envisioned it. It is never too late to become passion focused, the more in love you are with what you do the better your results will be.

Here are 4 actionable tips to discover your core passions:

1. Is There Something You Already Love Doing?

Whether it’s reading, fashion, collectables, drawing, or designing there is definitely a way you can convert that hobby into a money-making opportunity. Open a retail shop or with less capital, create a fashion-based website online. If you already have a pastime or activity that you’ve loved doing since you were a child then this is the perfect place for you to start.

Start researching businesses that are already successful in whichever field you want to focus on. Then, look into how they began, their first steps. See what you can shadow from them and implement it to monetise your own passion and follow in their footsteps.

2. Mind mapping and putting yourself out there

If no activity or hobby has immediately sprung to mind, don't worry. It can be hard to think on the spot about these things however, there is a quick activity you can do right now to try and figure out your biggest passion.

Brainstorm. Grab a pen & paper and put your thinking cap on - we are firm believers that putting pen to paper is much more inspiring than typing on a phone or laptop.

Ask yourself: What brings me joy?

It could be as simple as cake, you don't need to overcomplicate it. Write as many things that come to mind as possible. Think about what you do on the weekends to relax, could one of your weekend escapes become your new 9-5?

This doesn’t need to be an organized list, it can simply be a paper full of random notes or even doodles but, get your brain ticking around all the things that bring you pleasure.

If you're struggling for ideas, take a look around your house or on your computer for topics that you are already familiar with but maybe didn't realise could be one of your next ventures. There are no right or wrong answers and certainly no bad ideas.

This piece of paper could lead to a multitude of ideas, re-read it and narrow down the options until you either find one that really speaks to your heart or, a few that you could combine in to one business idea.

Alternatively, think about people in your life that you admire, are there things about them that you would like to reproduce in yourself or your own life?

Call them up or visit them, have a conversation, pick their brain, and network! See how they landed where they currently are and how they discovered their passion.

The more prospects you find, the more likely your chances of discovering how to find your passion in the future. This may even mean that you take the time to talk to your friends and family, current co-workers, or even acquaintances as, the chances are they may even know you better than you think you know yourself. An outside perspective from people that care about you is always telling.

3. Research, research, research!

Know as much about your passion as possible. This means going out and actively involving yourself in not only the activity but the community that surrounds it. If this has been a passion for a while, you may have already been doing this somewhat. At any rate, do even more research.

Read every book or article related to the topic, socialise with any contacts you may have in the field, immerse yourself in it so that you are living and breathing that hobby.

110% effort and involvement is the only way it will one day become your income source, otherwise it will remain your weekend escape.

4. You become who you surround yourself with

As someone currently shifting industry, finding like-minded people is essential. Whether they do what you want to do for a living or are in a similar field or even if they just have a solid success mindset then, you need to make sure you spend time around them and build each other up.

Share ideas, brainstorm and learn as much as you can from one another. If they are in the profession you would like to focus on then, ask them for tips so that you can one day follow in their footsteps.

Be mindful of who you give your energy to and also, who takes your energy from you. If you want to achieve success in life, you may need to do some things different to others and that is okay. Remember your goals and what you want to achieve and don't let anyone plant seeds of doubt in your mind.

Finally, it is completely rational that you may not have a Eureka moment, discovering your truest passion in life, setting up a business overnight and all of a sudden becoming a millionaire. However, if you give up after a few days, you’re sure to fail.

Focus each day on making one new contact, or ticking another box off your to-do list. Consistent, smart work will lead you down a path of success as long as you remain patient, work on becoming the best version of yourself & learn your industry inside out!

Rome wasn't built in a day, be patient and enjoy the process.

Perhaps you thought you had already found your passion but have since discovered that after giving it a go, it just wasn’t for you. Now you need to switch it up and find your next area of focus. Start over again! This process is the perfect way to find a new passion & push yourself outside of your comfort zone.

You may be lucky enough to have more than one passion in your lifetime, so explore all the possibilities and don't be afraid of change.

Until next time,
